In reply to <a href="https://liverdoctor.com/what-to-do-if-you-dont-have-a-gallbladder/#comment-127431">Vera</a>.

Hi Vera,

Please read the article at the following link, and keep for future reference, https://liverdoctor.com/natural-remedies-for-gallstones/.

Please also check out Dr Cabot’s recent videos on the gallbladder, especially this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxh_r9lI1ck

Gallstones are often associated with low bile production in the liver and insufficient ejection of bile from the gallbladder to renew the bile in the gallbladder.

Remember to have small servings of good fats often during the day to ensure the bile in your gallbladder is fresh and thereby assist dissolving your gallstones.

Most Gallbladder problems originate with Liver congestion, where the liver is producing insufficient or toxic bile.

Gallstones can be softened and dissolved in time, which doctors don’t usually want to have you take as it is more time that you may have further gall attacks.

We recommend you improve the health of your liver so that gallstones are not as likely to be formed rather than removing those you have.

To dissolve gall stones, boost liver health and your vitality, Dr Cabot prescribes

Super Digestive Enzymes Plus (these contain Ox Bile salts as well as pancreatic enzymes and betaine HCL) –1 capsule at the beginning of each meal to ensure proper absorption of fats and reduce the strain on your gallbladder

‘Raw Juices Can Save Your Life’ contains therapeutic juices to stimulate liver function and, with it, bile production. This can be purchased here: https://shop.cabothealth.com.au/raw-juices-can-save-your-life

Livatone Plus – 1 cap twice daily for 2 weeks and then increase to 2 capsules twice daily, to improve liver function.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600mg) – 1 cap twice daily for 2 weeks and then increase to 2 capsules twice daily well away from food, if any upset occurs take at the beginning of your meals. This supplement works well with Livatone Plus to get your liver better faster. NAC should be taken with a whole glass of water away from food. Do not take just before retiring to bed. NAC can be strong on the stomach, and this is why you need to take it with a whole glass of water.

These can be purchased here: https://liverdoctor.com/products/supplements.html

Kind regards,

I finished reading Dr Cabot's excellent gallbladder book a few days ago. Since then it has been confirmed that my gallbladder is 'packed with stones..' I have come to accept that gallbladder removal may be inevitable.

In the meantime, I got a tincture of the herbs suggested in the book from my local naturopath.. I wonder if the herbs suggested are still appropriate as such a late stage? I am very worried about causing too much contraction and extra pain. As it is, I get 'twinges' after nearly every meal. I am trying to have a little fat (olive oil with meals) but overall I just feel wary of doing much of anything. Any supplements you can recommend at this stage of dis-ease, I would really appreciate too. I also have fatty liver and that is my next book to purchase. Thank you for all your amazing work. Hi Anning,

Please check out Dr Cabot’s recent videos on the gallbladder and fatty liver here:
https://www.youtube.com/@drsandracabot/search?query=gallbladder
https://www.youtube.com/@drsandracabot/search?query=fatty%20liver

Many people with Gallbladder problems, still have a congested liver remaining after surgery and this is best reversed to improve your general health by reducing inflammation. The most common reason for gallbladder removal is liver congestion.

You may benefit from trying Dr Cabot’s 15 Day Cleanse – Two weeks to begin your journey toward improved overall health and function, utilising both supplements and a tasty, easy to prepare dietary regimen. Please go to http://www.drcabotcleanse.com to place an order.

After completing the Cleanse, we recommend you remain on this style of eating and you can then begin the Maintenance plan that is available at the same website.

Very often GERD occurs because there is insufficient acid in the stomach to relax protein fibers so the digestive enzymes can work.

Yellow eyes are a sign of jaundice. Jaundice is an sign of liver infection congestion, with bilirubin building up in your blood

Now that you no longer have a gallbladder it is important to ensure there is sufficient bile present at each meal.

To supply bile, boost liver health and your vitality, Dr Cabot prescribes

Ox Bile capsules – 1 – 2 capsules during each meal to replace the bile that can no longer be delivered from your gallbladder to help essential fat and fat-soluble vitamin absorption.

Livatone Plus – Start with 1 capsule twice daily for the first 2 weeks and then increase to 2 caps twice daily, to improve liver function.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600mg) – Start with 1 cap twice daily for the first 2 weeks and then increase to 2 caps twice daily well away from food, if any upset occurs take at the beginning of your meals. This supplement works well with Livatone Plus to get your liver better faster. This supplement is the precursor nutrient of glutathione; the body’s strongest anti-oxidant. NAC should be taken with a whole glass of water away from food. Do not take just before retiring to bed. NAC can be strong on the stomach, and this is why you need to take it with a whole glass of water.
These can be purchased here:https://liverdoctor.com/products/supplements.html

Vitamin D 5000 IU- 1 cap 3 times a week in the middle of meals that contain fat to get your vitamin D levels up.

Magnesium Complete - 2 tabs twice daily OR Magnesium ultra potent powder 1/2 tsp twice daily to relax the nervous system which will enable you to better handle stress.

You can purchase all these supplements here: https://liverdoctor.com/products/supplements.html

Let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Jessah Shaw

Hi Dr. Cabot,
So I had my gallbladder removed back on 2021 (age of 32). I did suffer from anxiety after my gallbladder attack. I was having tightness in my chest after eating heavy meals which made my anxiety go crazy. I had many ER and doctors visits after that. I was told that i was dealing with acid reflux (GERD) and was prescribed lansoprazole. I was advised by my doctor to lose weight so i started doing an intermittent fasting last year. I lost about 20 lbs from that but still had the same symptoms and anxiety. On August 2023, I had consumed alot of alcohol (liquor) which led me to the ER and was admitted and monitored due to low magnesium and pottasium levels. After that trauma, my life went down so quickly. I felt more sick than ever. Lost my appetite, abdominal pain, bad acid reflux, anxiety went sky rocket, insomnia, hair loss, and pale skin. I lost another 20 lbs after everything. I was then referred to a Gastro. I did an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and SIBO test but all results came back great (praising God for that). But still, my symptoms are still there even with good result and no major issues in my stomach. They did run some blood test for my liver function and immune system and other test. My vitamin D is on a boarderline of being low, hemoglobin on a boardline of being low too, AST was high (40) and IGM was high as well. Rest of my results were on a normal range. The crazy thing about my test results though, my doctor said "its normal and theres nothing really to worry about". So stressful! So Till this day, i am still suffering from acid reflux, bad anxiety, insomnia, tightness in my chest after eating, body itching everywhere, dry skin, dehydration, body twitching, diarrhea, constipation, yellow stool, and now the white part of my eyes are turning a bit yellow.

Please help me know what i should do and what i should take. I just recently started the lemon water in the morning and ive been trying to eat well and cut down with processed meat and refined sugar.

Dr. Cabot,
I stumbled upon your website and thought I'd share some info that might be helpful to you and your patients. When I had digestive issues, my Gastro recommended I have my gallbladder removed. Afterward, my issues continued. I saw a different Gastro and he was shocked to find out that my 1st Gastro did not test me for Celiac Disease as I had many of the symptoms. A blood test showed my numbers were off the chart and an upper endoscopy confirmed the diagnosis. I want to stress how extremely important it is that people NOT start eating gluten-free before being tested because once gluten is eliminated from one's diet, the test will not accurately reflect that one has Celiac Disease. I highly recommend that you encourage people who express concern about gallbladder and digestive issues to get tested BEFORE going gluten-free. Having the diagnosis on paper is very important for several reasons, one of them being that it is genetic and knowing that it runs in your family can help other family members who may also be suffering from symptoms, some of which can cause very serious health challenges. FYI: Some people have Silent Celiac Disease (in my case...Silent heartburn resulting in Barrett's Esophagus) and they don't have any symptoms at all, but internally are still experiencing the damage. The other reason that is important to have the diagnosis on paper from your MD, is if/when you need to be admitted to a nursing home, you must have the diagnosis in writing in order to have the facility agree to provide a strict gluten-free diet for you. I was told this by the director of one of our local nursing homes (his wife has Celiac Disease). When people are advised to TRY going gluten-free to see if they feel better, chances are if they do, they won't want to eat gluten anymore, which means they will never be able to get a diagnosis. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease and it is very common to have more than one autoimmune disease, another reason it is important to determine if you really have it by getting an upper endoscopy. Strictly adhering to a GF diet is very important. I am not an MD, but I've walked the path and have learned as much as I can about Celiac Disease so that I can help others to navigate the gluten-free lifestyle by leading a local celiac support group. Another helpful tip: Mix 1 tsp. Slippery Elm Powder in warm/hot water (shake in a jar before pouring into mug) and drink to soothe esophagus if experiencing GERD/acid reflux. After being diagnosed with Barrett's and told it would never go away, I used Slippery Elm and after my next upper GI, was told there was no evidence of Barrett's. I know 2 other people I've shared this info with who have had the same thing happen. (BTW: I saw a Gastro at Mayo in Rochester and he said he had never heard of Barrett's going away, but wanted to know the details of what I did). Hopefully, this information is helpful to you.

Hi Jennifer,

Please check out Dr Cabot’s recent videos on fatty liver and the gallbladder here: https://liverdoctor.com/category/videos/page/2/

Many people with Gallbladder problems still have a congested liver remaining after surgery.

Livatone Plus – 1 cap twice daily for 2 weeks and then increase to 2 capsules twice daily, to improve liver function.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC 600mg) – 1 cap twice daily well away from food, if any upset occurs take at the beginning of your meals.

These supplements can be purchased here: https://liverdoctor.com/products.html

I had my gallbladder removed at my doctors urgency about 5 years ago. The surgeon told me I could go back to a normal diet. Since the following day of surgery I just had diarrhea instantly after just about anything I consumed except water and toast. So they put me on Colestipol and I take that every 8 hours. I can’t take anything in the 4 hours after I take it because it will absorb it. I have to wait two hours after I take it before I can eat. Now my doc has me on metformin and it’s a nightmare I’ve had diarrhea for the last 8 hours. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver two years ago. I bought digestive enzymes and I took it a few times but it gets overwhelming trying to work in other medications with these two. Help

Hi Danielle,

Please check out Dr Cabot’s recent videos on the gallbladder, especially this one: https://liverdoctor.com/gallbladder-series-part-7-gallbladder-surgery/

Many people with Gallbladder problems, still have a congested liver remaining after surgery and this is best reversed to improve your general health by reducing inflammation.

Yes, we do ship to the U.K.
